Application has been made to the Financial Services Authority and the London Stock Exchange plc for a total of 15,000,000 Ordinary shares of 28 4/7p each ("shares") to be admitted to the Official List. 

These shares are being reserved under block listings and will be issued as a result of the exercise or award of shares granted pursuant to the following schemes:

Scheme	Shares
J Sainsbury plc Value Builder Scheme	10,000,000
J Sainsbury plc SAYE Scheme	5,000,000

When issued these shares will rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary shares.
