Sampo's Christmas donation to HelsinkiMissio

SAMPO PLC                     PRESS RELEASE              14.12.2010 at 10.00 Sampo's Christmas donation to HelsinkiMissio Sampo plc is giving this year's Christmas donation to the work done by HelsinkiMissio with Seniors and its volunteers. The donation is EUR 10,000. - Corporate support is really important for us, as it enables us to continue our work. I am particularly pleased that companies want to remember those who are lonely and underprivileged at Christmas time. It brings to mind the real spirit or Christmas, i.e. taking care of the weakest in our society, says Olli Valtonen, the Managing Director of HelsinkiMissio. The work of HelsinkiMissio with Seniors brings professional and voluntary help to benefit lonely, elderly people in the Helsinki region. The objective is to prevent loneliness and marginalisation, supporting the maintenance of people's capabilities as well as preventing older people becoming ill and depressed. HelsinkiMissio's funding comes from RAY (Finland's Slot Machine Association), the City of Helsinki as well as from donations from private individuals and companies. - HelsinkiMissio does valuable work which is why we want to support its operations, says  Jarmo Salonen, Sampo's Head of Investor Relations and Group Communications. Sampo plc has traditionally donated the money reserved for Christmas cards for its various interest groups to charity to support work done for the public good.
