AGM Statement

Savills PLC 07 May 2003 7 May 2003 AGM STATEMENT At today's Annual General Meeting of Savills plc, the international property adviser, Chairman, Richard Jewson said: 'Trading in the first four months of 2003 has been unusually influenced by external events. The war in Iraq and uncertainty in financial markets have particularly affected the confidence at the top end of the residential sector; concerns about global economic slowdown continue to impact the corporate sector. 'Despite these external factors the Commercial Investment markets remain strong, with continuing activity by European investors in the UK market. As expected Commercial Leasing activity continues to remain weak. Residential markets are slow with reduced volumes of transactions, particularly in London, although elsewhere activity levels are similar to this time a year ago. Our Consultancy and Property Management businesses are performing well and Financial Services has made an excellent start to the year. 'We remain confident that owing to the breadth of our activities and the quality and flexibility of our businesses that we are well placed to meet the challenges of the more difficult trading conditions which we continue to face.'
