Savills PLC 24 May 2004 24 May 2004 Appointment of Peter Smith as Non Executive Director and Chairman Designate Savills plc, the international property consultant, is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Smith (57) to the Board as a non executive director and Chairman Designate. Peter had a distinguished and dedicated career at Coopers & Lybrand, which spanned 32 years and culminated in his appointment as Chairman in 1994 and Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 1998. He served for two years as Chairman of Coopers & Lybrand International and as a member of the global leadership team of PwC. Since retiring from his executive role in 2000, Peter has taken up non-executive appointments at RAC Plc, where he is Chairman, N M Rothchild & Sons Limited, The Equitable Life Assurance Society and Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc. Between 2002 and 2004 Peter also served as a non executive director of Safeway PLC. He is a Member of the Finance & General Purposes Committee of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and a Member of the Global Corporate Advisory Council of Harvard Business School. There are no details that are required to be disclosed by paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules. It is intended that Peter will succeed Richard Jewson as Chairman who is due to retire from Savills on 31 October 2004. At this time Mr Jewson will have served nine years as Chairman of Savills. Over this period Richard has made an invaluable contribution to Savills and the Board wishes to thank him publicly for his unfailing commitment.
