this period Richard has made an invaluable contribution to Savills and the Board
wishes to thank him publicly for his unfailing commitment.
Richard Jewson, Chairman of Savills, commented:
'I am particularly pleased to welcome Peter Smith as a non executive Director
and Chairman Designate. Peter's strong background in a people business within
professional services will be of great benefit to Savills. This, combined with
his financial background, global management expertise and corporate governance
experience will greatly enhance the strength of our Board.
'It has been a privilege to chair the Company through nearly a decade of
successful growth. I will continue in the role for the next few months, which
will allow Peter to settle in as a non executive Director and I am delighted
that he will be succeeding me as Chairman of Savills in due course.'
Commenting on his appointment Peter Smith said:
'I have followed with interest the development of Savills over several years. In
particular, I have been most impressed by the professional reputation Savills
holds within its industry and the financial performance it has achieved as
evidenced, most recently, in a sound set of results for 2003. I am greatly
looking forward to joining the Savills' team as a non executive Director and to
overseeing the continuing successful growth of the Group when I assume the role
of Chairman from Richard later this year.'
