Savills plc and Trammell Crow Company Strengthen Strategic Alliance
Savills plc and Trammell Crow Company today announce the execution of an
agreement to strengthen their commitments to the international strategic
alliance they established in July 2000 for the purpose of providing each
company's customers access to the commercial real estate services capabilities
of the other. The amended strategic alliance agreement has a term extending
through 2008 and, among other things, provides for a Strategic Evaluation Team,
comprised of employees of both companies, to administer and promote the
alliance.
As part of the agreement, Trammell Crow Company has subscribed for additional
equity in Trammell Crow Savills Limited, the corporate real estate outsourcing
company jointly owned by Trammell Crow Company and Savills. As a result of its
purchase of the newly issued shares, Trammell Crow Company now owns more than
95% of the outstanding shares of Trammell Crow Savills, with the remaining
shares continuing to be owned by Savills. Reflecting its increased ownership in
the joint venture, Trammell Crow Company will re-brand the joint venture
'Trammell Crow Company,' thereby providing real estate outsourcing services to
corporate customers in the Americas, Europe and Asia under one common brand.
Bob Sulentic, Trammell Crow Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,
stated 'We are more committed than ever to our strategic alliance with Savills.
Through the alliance, we and Savills continue to leverage the resources and
collective expertise of two world-class real estate companies for the benefit of
our respective clients. From Trammell Crow Company's perspective, the alliance
with Savills provides us with a significantly expanded delivery platform to meet
our customers' real estate requirements beyond North America. Our increased
ownership in Trammell Crow Savills, our jointly owned outsourcing company, and
its re-branding as 'Trammell Crow Company' reflect our commitment to the pursuit
of corporate outsourcing business around the globe and will facilitate the
development and implementation of consistent operating and reporting procedures
based on a global technology system, as well as enhance accountability to
provide the highest levels of customer service worldwide.'
Mr. Sulentic also noted that in addition to the companies' commercial
relationship, they maintain other strong ties. 'We continue to be Savills'
largest shareholder, owning approximately 10% of Savills' outstanding shares and
having two of our nominees on Savills' Board of Directors, and we have been
delighted with the performance of that investment.'
Aubrey Adams, Group Chief Executive of Savills plc, noted 'Over the last three
and a half years the relationship with Trammell Crow Company has been very
positive for Savills, and we are delighted to strengthen our strategic
alliance.' With regard to the re-branding of Trammell Crow Savills and the
subscription of additional shares by Trammell Crow Company diluting Savills'
ownership, Mr. Adams noted 'These events are natural steps in the development of
Trammell Crow Savills' business. Outsourcing is a core offering of Trammell Crow
Company and conversely has never been seen as a mainstream Savills activity. The
new branding makes that clear. Savills remains totally committed, however, to
supporting the business of the re-branded entity, which will continue to refer
the execution of transactional business to Savills wherever we have the
requisite capability.'
