                           Appointment of a director



The Board of Schroder AsiaPacific Fund plc is pleased to announce that Mr.
Anthony Fenn has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with
immediate effect.



Anthony Fenn, aged 63, has recently retired following a 38 year career as an
Investment Executive with Sun Life Financial of Canada.  Over the course of his
career, he has held various positions, the most recent of which was Head of
Investments, Asia, in which he oversaw the setting up of a mutual fund
management company in the Philippines. He also has investment experience in Hong
Kong, Japan, China, Indonesia and India.  He brings a wealth of experience to
the Board and the Directors welcome him and look forward to working with him.



He graduated with a BA in Philosophy and Anthropology from Trinity College,
Cambridge and is fluent in both French and German.



He does not hold any current U.K. directorships and has not done so in the last
5 years.



It is confirmed that there are no details to be disclosed concerning Anthony
Fenn under paragraph 16.4 of the UK Listing Rules.
