                    Market Purchase of Company's Own Shares


Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at an Annual
General Meeting on 15 April 2005 to make market purchases of the Company's own
ordinary shares of 5p each, a market purchase of 1,300,000 ordinary shares in
the capital of the Company was made today at a price of 91.50p per share.

Following this purchase and cancellation there are 186,353,359 ordinary shares
in issue.
