Board Appointment

Schroders plc announces that Luc Bertrand has been appointed to the Board as a
non-executive Director, with effect from 1 March 2006. Mr Bertrand will also be
a member of the Audit and Nominations Committees.

Mr Bertrand, 55, is the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Belgian
company Ackermans & van Haaren N.V. He joined the Ackermans & van Haaren group
in 1985 as a Director and became Administrative and Finance Manager in 1987. He
was appointed Managing Director in 1990 and became Chairman of the Executive
Committee in 1996.

Michael Miles, Chairman, said 'We identified the need to strengthen our Board
through the appointment of a Director with broad experience of business in
Continental Europe, a region which is of great importance to Schroders. I am
delighted that we have been able to find someone of Luc's expertise to join us.
He will bring another dimension to our discussions and I look forward to his
contribution.'

Biographical Details - Luc Bertrand

Luc Bertrand was born in 1951 and is a Belgian national. He started his career
as a corporate financier with Bankers Trust in 1974 in their New York office.
Between 1976 and 1980 he held various overseas posts, including positions in
London and Amsterdam. He became a vice president in 1980.

Mr Bertrand joined Ackermans & van Haaren N.V. in 1985, holding a number of
positions before becoming Chairman of the Executive Committee in 1996. He is a
director of various subsidiary companies within the Ackermans & van Haaren
group.

He is an independent director of ING Belgium, Fortis Private Equity and Agridec
N.V. He is also on the advisory council of INSEAD Belgium.

There are no details to be disclosed as required by paragraph 9.6.13R (2) to (6)
of the Listing Rules.
