Peter Job Appointed Non-executive Director

Mr. Job, aged 58, has been Chief Executive of Reuters Group PLC since 1991 and is also a non-executive Director of Glaxo Wellcome plc. Bischoff, Chairman Schroders plc 120 Cheapside London EC2V 6DS Tel (44) 20 7658 6000 Biographical details of Mr. Job: Born 13th July 1941, British Peter Job joined Reuters in 1963 as a graduate trainee from Oxford University and served as a correspondent in Paris, New Delhi, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. He moved into management in 1971 in Buenos Aires and subsequently held a series of posts with managerial responsibility for Asia/Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. He became a director of Reuters Holdings plc in 1989 after a decade based in Hong Kong in charge of Reuters Asia. He was appointed Chief Executive in March 1991. From 1989 he was a director and subsequently Chairman of the international newsfilm agency Visnews, resigning when Reuters acquired Visnews in 1992. He was appointed a non-executive director of Grand Metropolitan in 1994 and, when the company merged with Guinness, served on the board of Diageo plc from December 1997 to June 1999. He joined Glaxo Wellcome plc as a non-executive director in October 1997. In 1999 he became Chairman of the International Advisory Council of NASDAQ, the US over-the- counter stock market. Other advisory positions include membership of the UK Council of the Fontainebleau-based business school INSEAD (1993), the Department of Trade and Industry's Japan Trade Group (1994), the Chancellor's City Promotion Panel (1995) and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Business Panel (1998). In December 1995 he became an Honorary Fellow of Green College, Oxford and in 1998 an hon. D. Litt at the University of Kent. It is confirmed that there are no details to be disclosed concerning Mr. Job under paragraph 6F2(b) to (g) of the Stock Exchange Listing Rules.
