THE SCOTTISH AMERICAN INVESTMENT COMPANY PLC (SAINTS)

Mr William Berry (a Director) notified the Company by letter dated 12th April
2000 that he had resigned as a Trustee of Lady Kate Murray's Personal Trust.
With effect from 12th April 2000 Mr Berry no longer has an interest in the
Trust's holding of 10,800 SAINTS shares.
