               Ordinary Shares for cancellation

The Scottish American Investment Company plc announces that on
26th  November,  1999,  it purchased for cancellation  300,000
ordinary shares in the market at a price of 252.5p per ordinary
shares  and  100,000  ordinary shares at  253.5p  per  ordinary
share.  There remains 169,865,943 ordinary shares in issue.
