The Scottish American Investment Company PLC

The Scottish American Investment Company PLC (SAINTS) purchased 2,500,000
units of 5p nominal each of Equities Index Unsecured Loan Stock 2004 (EIULS)
on 14th January 2000 at a price of £3.1315 per unit.  Following the
transaction, 34,504,975 units of 5p nominal stock remain outstanding.  In
accordance with the Trust Deed governing the EIULS, the stock purchased by
SAINTS will be cancelled.
