Repurchase of Ordinary Shares for cancellation

The Scottish American Investment Company plc announces that on
10th February, 2000, it purchased for cancellation 75,000
ordinary shares in the market at a price of 247.5p per
ordinary share and 125,000 ordinary shares at 248p per
ordinary share.  On 11th February, 2000 it purchased 350,000
ordinary shares in the market at a price of 248.5p per
ordinary share.  There remains 163,565,943 ordinary shares in
issue.
