The Scottish American Investment Company PLC ('SAINTS')
purchased 4,823,151 units of 5p nominal each of Equities Index
Unsecured Loan Stock 2004 (EIULS) on 10th July 2000 at a price
of £3.110023 per unit.  Following the transaction 29,281,824
units of 5p nominal stock remain outstanding.  In accordance
with the Trust Deed governing the EIULS, the stock purchased
by SAINTS will be cancelled.
