Scottish American Investment Co PLC 13 September 2000 SAINTS - ANNOUNCEMENT RE NEW DIRECTOR At a Board Meeting of The Scottish American Investment Company Plc ('SAINTS') this morning Mr Brian Ivory was appointed a non-executive director of SAINTS with immediate effect. Mr Ivory, aged 51, was previously Chairman of Highland Distillers Plc where he had been a Director since 1978 and had held the position of Managing Director from 1988 and Group Chief Executive from 1994 to 1997. He is a Director of the Bank of Scotland, a Director of Remy Cointreau SA and is also Chairman of the Trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland. Brian Ivory is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Freeman of the City of London and a Companion of the Institute of Management. Educated at Eton College and Magdalene College, Cambridge, he worked in Australia and the United States before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. Brian Ivory is married with two children and in his leisure time enjoys the arts, farming and hill walking. He was awarded the CBE in January 1999 for services to the Scotch Whisky Industry and the Arts.
