Appointment of Director

The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Dowley as a non executive director of Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC.

Justin Dowley is a former international investment banker. He qualified as a chartered accountant at Price Waterhouse in 1980. Subsequently he was a director of Morgan Grenfell & Co. Limited, Head of Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch Europe and a founder partner of Tricorn Partners LLP. He is currently Chairman of Intermediate Capital Group plc and a non executive director of Melrose Industries plc, the National Crime Agency and a number of private companies.

The Chairman of Scottish Mortgage, Mr. John Scott said: "I am very pleased that Mr. Dowley has agreed to join our Board.   He has extensive and relevant investment industry experience and will undoubtedly make a valuable contribution to the Company."

As at 10 July 2015, Mr. Dowley held 198,718 shares in Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC.

The appointment of Mr. Dowley will take effect from 4 September 2015 and falls to be ratified by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting of the Company to be held in 2016.

There is no further information required to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13.
