DIRECTORATE CHANGE

The Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust Plc (the "Trust") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Anne West as a non-executive Director of the Trust with immediate effect.

Anne West has been involved with the investment process for over 20 years, starting in 1989 with responsibility for Asian and Japanese portfolios and most recently as Chief Investment Officer from 2001 to 2008 with Cazenove.

She joined Cazenove in 1989 and is currently a Fund Director in the Private Client Department, concentrating on strategy particularly for absolute return benchmarks.  She retains individual investment responsibility for a substantial family trust managed against an absolute return benchmark.  Anne acts as a link between the Investment Team and the Private Client team ensuring communication of investment views and their interpretation for private client portfolios.   

Previously Anne was based in Hong Kong working for Standard Chartered Bank and Hambro Pacific.

Anne graduated from Aberdeen University with a degree in Geography.

Commenting on the appointment, James Ferguson, the Chairman of the Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust plc, said: "We are delighted that Anne West has agreed to join our Board."

There is no further information to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in respect of Anne West.
