is the  authorised corporate director of First State Investments ICVC and is in
the same corporate group as First State  Investment Management (UK) Limited, the
investment manager of The Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust PLC.

In addition to the sale by The First State Asia Pacific Fund of 175,740 shares
in the Company earlier on 6 January  2005, The First State Asia Pacific Fund
sold a further 1,000,000 shares in the Company on 6 January 2005.
