ISSUE OF EQUITY

The Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust PLC (the "Company") announces that it has allotted and issued, conditional only on admission to listing on the UKLA's Official List and to trading on the London Stock Exchange, a further 120,000 Ordinary shares of £0.25 each, which rank pari passu with the existing shares in issue.  The Ordinary shares have been issued at a price of £8.18 per share, being just over a 2.5 per cent. premium to the net asset value announced by the Company on 25 January 2013 and have been issued to satisfy demand for the Ordinary shares in the market.  It is expected that the new shares will be admitted to listing and to trading at 8.00 a.m. on 31 January 2013. Following this issue, the Company will have 30,798,650 Ordinary shares in issue.
