Sondex expansion with opening of Middle East centre
Sondex, a British oilfield technology company, which listed on the London Stock
Exchange in June this year, has opened a new overseas office in the Middle East.
The centre, based in the United Arab Emirates, will provide Sondex's oil and gas
industry clients in the region with an even greater field support capability and
will allow the Group to market to a wider potential customer base.
The Middle East operation is headed by Osama Fayek Gaballa, aged 39, who has
extensive wireline logging experience in the Middle East, the Gulf, India and
the United States. Previous to joining Atlas he held senior positions with
Maritime Superior Well Services, Halliburton Energy Services, El Ezz Group and
Schlumberger Wireline.
The opening of the Middle East facility marks a significant development for
Sondex which is establishing itself as one of the world's leading independent
technology suppliers to the downhole oil and gas industry. The company, based
near Hook in Hampshire in the UK already has operations in Houston, USA, South
America and Perth, Australia.
Sondex has developed a suite of specialised technical downhole tools for use in
the worldwide oil and gas industry. These tools, including wireline logging
equipment for increasing production from known reserves, well inspection systems
for economically extending the life of wells, data-acquisition systems, and an
electric tractor for use in horizontal wells. The electro-mechanical equipment
is generally deployed by major and regional oilfield service companies on behalf
of most of the world's oil and gas companies.
Sondex's Middle East operations will be based in the Duty Free Zone in Jebel
Ali, United Arab Emirates.
Martin Perry, Chief Executive, Sondex PLC, commented:
"We are already achieving a good degree of market penetration in the Middle
East. Being on the ground will allow us to give existing clients a higher level
of service and enable us to expand our business base in this important region."
