Appointment of new non-executive director and refreshment of marketing strategy - 20 August 2018

The Board of Securities Trust of Scotland plc ("the Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Harvey as a non-executive director of the Company, with effect from 1^st October 2018.

Ms Harvey was previously the UK Managing Director of Square Inc, the US listed fintech company, where she was responsible for overseeing UK strategy, business development, marketing and sales.  Prior to this, she was Chief Operating Officer at Tough Mudder, the world's largest leading obstacle events business, with responsibility for global operations and international expansion.  Ms Harvey has extensive experience in corporate strategy, marketing, and operations. Her career started with Bain & Company, before working on a range of international development projects for not-for-profit organisations and businesses in Africa, after which she moved to Diageo plc where she was responsible for the company's growth strategy in Africa.  Ms Harvey is currently researching a new business opportunity in the travel sector.

Ms Harvey does not currently own any shares in the company and there is no further information is to be disclosed in respect of paragraphs 9.6.13 of the UKLA Listing Rules.

The Board is also pleased to announce that Martin Currie, the Company's investment manager, has agreed to a refresh of the Company's marketing strategy, which will include a material increase in the Company's marketing budget which is dedicated specifically to promoting the Company.  The Board looks forward to working with Ms Harvey to ensure that this marketing strategy is effective and that the increased spend is used to maximum effort.
