Appointment of a new non-executive director

The board of Securities Trust of Scotland plc ("the company") is pleased to announce the appointment of John Evans as a non-executive director of the company, with effect from 1 February 2016.

John has extensive experience of investment management having worked in the industry for over 30 years. After commencing his career with Ivory & Sime, in 1990 John became one of the founding partners of Aberforth Partners, a specialist investment management firm that invests in UK Smaller Quoted Companies largely on behalf of institutional investors. Throughout his career John has been closely involved with the management of Investment Companies, and in particular those with an income objective. John retired from Aberforth in 2011 after 21 years with the Partnership.  John is currently a non-executive director of Investors Capital Trust plc and is the Chairman of Drum Income Plus REIT.

Mr Evans does not currently own any shares in the company and there is no further information is to be disclosed in respect of paragraphs 9.6.13 (2) - (6) of the UKLA Listing Rules.
