("Seeing Machines" or the "Company")
Appointment of Chairman
Seeing Machines Limited (AIM: SEE), a leading developer of facial image processing software for applications that rely on understanding the movement of human faces and eyes, announces the appointment of Terence (Terry) Ronald Winters, 67, as Non-Executive Chairman with effect from 16 April 2012.
Terry Winters has served as Chairman and director of several Australian and international listed and private companies and charities and is widely known and respected as a strategic leader. Terry is currently Chairman of Australian Home Care Services Pty Ltd, Converge International Limited and Intelledox Pty Ltd and is a director of Future Fibre Technologies Pty Ltd and Many Rivers Microfinance Ltd.
Terry led the team who created Optus Communications Pty Ltd, Australia's second telecommunications carrier from 1989-1992 and remained on the Optus Board until 1995. In order to establish Optus, $1.5 billion in private capital was raised from the initial shareholders to underwrite the acquisition of Aussat, pay the initial license fee and commence the immediate roll-out of the Optus network. Immediately following the award of the carrier license to Optus, Terry served as acting Chief Executive while a new management team was recruited. Prior to this in 1982, Terry founded Link Telecommunications Pty Ltd in Australia. He raised more than $50 million to fund several phases of growth to the point where it was generating over $200 million in annual revenues. He served at different times as CEO and Chairman until 1999. In addition, Terry spent 13 years on various boards of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Australia. During this time he led the creation of a "for profit" subsidiary, achieving revenues today of greater than $100 million. Terry also served on several boards of Opportunity International, a global microfinance organisation operating in over 30 countries, ending his term as global chairman in March 2011.
Ken Kroeger, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Seeing Machines commented: "We are delighted to have attracted someone of Terry's calibre. Terry has a track record of building highly effective businesses and his depth of experience will be invaluable to Seeing Machines. Terry's appointment comes at a key time for Seeing Machines as the business continues to focus on commercialisation."
