The Singapore Rubber Estates PLC
('The Singapore Rubber Estates' or the 'Company')
Proposed merger with Bertam Holdings PLC,
The Company announces that following the Court Meeting and the Extraordinary
General Meeting of the Company at which each of the resolutions approving the
proposed merger with Bertam Holdings PLC was duly passed, the date of the
Court hearing of the petition to sanction the scheme of arrangement under
which this merger is to be implemented has been changed from 2 July 2001 to 9
July 2001.
Accordingly, the timetable of events as set out in the Circular sent to
shareholders of the Company on 11 May 2001, has been altered and is expected
to be as follows:

Effective Date of Scheme Tuesday, 10 July 2001
Commencement of dealings in New Bertam Shares on the 8.00 am on Wednesday, 11
London Stock Exchange July 2001
Despatch of share certificates in respect of the New on, or before Wednesday,
Bertam Shares 18 July 2001
