BOARD CHANGES
Following the successful conclusion of its Y2K project, the Company and
Gerrard Rodgers (who led the project) have mutually agreed that Mr Rodgers
will stand down from the Board with effect from 3 March 2000. Mr Rodgers will
remain an employee of the Group until 7 April 2000, in order to assist the
Group with the handover of his responsibilities. Mr Rodgers leaves the Group
after 30 years, during which he has fulfilled a number of roles. The Company
wishes to thank Mr Rodgers for his contributions in the past and he leaves
with its good wishes for the future.
The Company is pleased to announce the appointment of a third non-executive
director, Ralph Hodge, with effect from 5 April 2000. A distinguished
engineer with a keen interest in management education, Mr Hodge was formerly
chief executive of ICI Chemicals and Polymers, a non-executive director of
Halifax Plc and chairman of Enron Europe Limited. He also chaired the
committee that created the ISO 9000 quality standard. He is currently
chairman of the Water Research Council, deputy chairman of Azurix
International Limited, a director of Wessex Water Services Limited and a
non-executive chairman of the Addis Group.
DIVIDEND
The dividend of 5.9 pence per share is payable on 14 April 2000 to
shareholders on the register on 17 March 2000.
