                      Appointment of Managing Director
              of Group Subsidiary and new Commercial Director

Severfield-Rowen plc, the UK's largest structural steel group, announces the
appointment of Peter Emerson as Managing Director of the Group's recently
acquired subsidiary, Watson Steel, whilst retaining his position on the Board.

Mr. Emerson will be leaving his position as Commercial Director of the Group in
order to take up the important role of overseeing the integration process and
developing the full potential of Watson Steel in the future.

Tom Haughey will be joining Severfield- Rowen as the Group's new Commercial
Director and will become a member of the Board of Directors with immediate
effect.

Mr Haughey, 45, is a leading figure in the steel construction sector.  He joins
Severfield- Rowen from Corus plc where he has been Commercial Director of the
company's Construction and Industrial Division for the past three years.  At
Corus his main responsibilities were to oversee the domestic and international
strategic development of steel sections and plates for the construction market.



Peter Levine, Chairman, commenting on the appointments said today:
