On 19th April 2001, the Company was informed that the shareholding of Putnam
Investment Management LLC and The Putnam Advisory Company LLC in the Ordinary
Shares of 65 5/19p each of Severn Trent Plc had increased to 10,330,260
shares, representing 3.01% of the total issued share capital of that class.
Their interest in these shares is non-beneficial and the shares were acquired
solely for investment purposes.
