PRELIMINARY ANNOUNCEMENT OF FINAL RESULTS FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 MARCH 2001

Severn Trent Plc will announce its Final Results for the year ending 31 March
2001 on 6 June 2001.

At the same time the Company will also recommend the payment of a final
dividend on the Company's Ordinary Shares of 65 5/19 pence each for the year
ending 31 March 2001.

Associated dates relating to the payment of this final dividend for the year
ending 31 March 2001 are as follows:

Ex Dividend Date    27 June 2001

Record Date         29 June 2001

Payment Date        1 October 2001
