Grant of Share Options

Shanta Gold Limited
                  ("Shanta Gold" or the "Company")
                                   
The Board  of  Shanta  Gold  announces that  on  25  April  2008,  it
implemented the award of  share options to  five employees under  the
Company's Employee  Share  Option  Plan. A  total  of  775,000  share
options  over  ordinary  shares  of  1p  each  ("Ordinary   Shares"),
equivalent to 0.75 per cent. of  the issued share capital, have  been
awarded to the five employees.
The newly awarded share  options have an exercise  price of 8.5p.  Of
the share  options granted,  25 per  cent. vest  immediately, 25  per
cent. will vest on the first anniversary of the date of the grant and
the remainder will vest on the second anniversary of the date of  the
grant. The share options expire 10 years after the date of the grant.
