Scott Wilson awarded Crossrail contract
Scott Wilson Group plc ("Scott Wilson" or "the Company"), the international
consultancy offering integrated professional services for civil and structural
engineering projects, transportation, environmental studies and institutional
development, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the first of four
multi-disciplinary design contracts for development work by Cross London Rail
Links Ltd (CLRL).
CLRL is the company leading the Crossrail project to build a new rail line
across London, from Maidenhead to Shenfield and Abbey Wood. The contract is
worth between £12m and £15m over the next two years. The appointment of Scott
Wilson as multi-disciplinary consultant is a major step forward in the
co-ordinated plan o deliver Crossrail, and unlock the wide range of benefits it
will provide. Scott Wilson will work closely with Network Rail to prepare an
affordable reference design for the surface works of the project, which will
form the basis for construction, possible once the Crossrail Bill has received
royal assent and become an Act.

Crossrail
1. The proposed Crossrail route will run from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the
west, through a tunnel under Central London with stations at Paddington, Bond
Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel and Isle
of Dogs, out to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, joining the Great Western
and Great Eastern railway networks.
The Crossrail hybrid Bill, which is promoted by the Secretary of State for
Transport, Alastair Darling, received its 2nd Reading on 19 July 2005 and
entered Select Committee stage on 17th January 2006. The project has an
estimated cost of £10.292 billion at Q1 2002 prices - equivalent to
approximately £16 billion in money of the day over the construction period
(i.e., allowing for future predicted inflation).
2. Cross London Rail Links (CLRLL), the company promoting Crossrail, is
currently a 50:50 joint venture between the DfT and TfL, each of whom appoint
three directors to CLRL's board.

largest UK-based engineering consultant by fee income for the calendar year 2004
in the New Civil Engineer 2005 annual survey.
The Company earned approximately 67 per cent. of its revenue over the three
years to 30 April 2005 in the UK and approximately 33% overseas. The Company has

Coast Route Modernisation and Victoria Station and a number of London
Underground stations.
