    SHIRES INCOME PLC APPOINTS NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
                              
Joanna   R  Davidson  has  been  appointed  a  Non-Executive
Director of Shires Income plc with effect 1 March 2000.

She is currently Group Marketing Director of the Chitty Food
Group and a Non-Executive Director of U.A. Group plc.  Since
1996  she  has  been  a  member of the  Meat  and  Livestock
Commission Research Steering Committee.
