Shires Income PLC

The Company announces that is has effected portfolio protection in the form of a put and call option strategy. The strategy applies to the geared element of the portfolio (approximately 28% of gross assets) and was effected by buying FTSE 100 Index puts at a strike of 4810 and selling FTSE 100 Index calls at a strike of 5512, both expiring 19 March 2010.
