RESULT OF PLACING (THE 'PLACING')

SIG plc ('SIG') is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Placing announced earlier today. A total of 
11,363,637 new ordinary shares of 10 pence each ('Placing Shares') have been placed by Panmure Gordon (UK) Limited with 
institutions at a price of 1320 pence per share, raising approximately £150 million before commissions and expenses.

The Placing Shares will be credited as fully paid and will rank pari passu in all respects with the existing ordinary 
shares of 10 pence each in the capital of SIG, including the right to receive all future dividends and other 
distributions. Placees will not be entitled to the final dividend that is to be payable to shareholders in the Company 
on 29 May 2007 who were on the register of members at close of business on 27 April 2007.

The Placing is conditional, inter alia, on admission of the Placing Shares to the Official List of the UK Listing 
Authority and to trading on London Stock Exchange plc's main market for listed securities (together 'Admission') taking 
place no later than 8.00 a.m., on 30 May 2007.

Application has been made for the Placing Shares to be admitted to the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and to 
be admitted to trading by London Stock Exchange plc on its main market for listed securities. It is expected that 
settlement will occur, Admission will become effective and dealings in the Placing Shares will commence on 30 May 2007.
