Claro Guatemala launches Text-to-Landline service with TeleMessage
Messaging International Plc, the AIM traded provider of innovative messaging services, has, through its 100% owned subsidiary, TeleMessage Ltd, signed an agreement with Claro Guatemala ('Claro') to launch its Text-to Landline service. Claro, a subsidiary of America Movil Group, is the largest mobile carrier in Guatemala with over 4 million users. This agreement to launch Text-to-Landline will allow Claro subscribers to send a text message from a wireless phone to any landline phone in Guatemala.
The Text-to-Landline software enables Claro wireless customers to create and send a text message to any landline phone in Guatemala, and converts it to a voice message for the recipient. The recipient can then respond by voice to the wireless customer, who will receive the reply message in the form of a text. The wireless customer will also receive a status text message confirming if the message was delivered directly to a person or to a voicemail system.
'With SMS to Landline, Claro customers can quickly touch base with someone on a landline phone even when a voice call might not be convenient,' said Marvin Par, General Manager of Claro Guatemala. 'As more and more people begin to rely on text, IM and chat services for quick communication, this offer is just one more way that Claro is making sure our customers have a wide range of options to meet all their messaging needs.'
Guy Levit, CEO of Messaging International, said, 'Text-to-Landline is an easy to use and convenient method of quick communication which is increasingly seen as a must-have by many mobile operators and their customers. We are delighted that Claro have chosen to launch this application as millions of its customers will benefit from our innovative technology, and importantly, through this agreement TeleMessage will gain exposure and recognition in the rapidly expanding Latin American telecommunications market.'
