Messaging International Plc ('the Company')
Text to Landline Service Launched with TELUS
Messaging International Plc, the AIM traded provider of innovative messaging
services, has, through its subsidiary TeleMessage Ltd, launched its Text to
Landline solution with TELUS, a leading national telecommunications company in
Canada.
The application allows TELUS mobile subscribers to send text messages to any
wireline phone in Canada and the United States. The text messages are converted
to English or French voice messages and either played to the wireline phone
owners or left on their voicemail or answering machine. The TELUS mobile
subscriber receives a status text message telling him if a live person received
the message or if it was left on a voicemail or answering machine. Wireline
recipients can then respond using their own voice. The TELUS mobile subscriber
will receive a text message notification with details on how to retrieve the
response, and can then dial in and listen to the voice message.
Mark Carlin, Vice President of Sales for the Americas at TeleMessage said, 'The
application is very simple to use. The TELUS customer simply sends a text
message to a landline number instead of a mobile number. I am often asked, why
don't they just call instead? The short answer is because they do not want to.
The people that text message and use Instant Messenger today like that method of
communication and having some extra time to think before they have to respond.
This application bridges the gap between the young and the older, the mobile
text user and the landline voice user. We have seen tremendous growth in use of
the solution over the past two years. I have no doubt TELUS will experience the
same.'
TELUS subscribers pay standard text message rates for Text to Landline messages.
