H.C. Slingsby plc
It is with deep regret that the board of H.C.Slingsby plc announces that the
Company's former Chairman and Managing Director, James ('Jimmie') Frizon
Slingsby, died on Thursday 8th March 2007 at the age of 76.
Jimmie qualified as a mechanical engineer at Loughborough College and joined the
Company in 1953. He became a Director in 1960, Managing Director in 1975 and
also Chairman the following year. In 1997, he stood down as Managing Director
and in January 2007, after 53 years of service, he resigned as Non Executive
Chairman of the Company and took up the honorary position of President.
Under his leadership the Company developed many of its innovative materials
handling products. He was also the driving force behind the introduction in
1981 of the Company's mail order catalogue which became the bedrock of the
Company's business as it is today.
The Slingsby family also wish to note their appreciation of the many kind
expressions of sympathy from employees and associates of the Company.
