Directorship Update

Smart Metering Systems plc (AIM: SMS), the only independent provider of the full range of gas infrastructure connection services, gas meter asset management services, and developer of smart metering technology solutions to the UK's key gas suppliers, announces that it has received notification today that Bezier Acquisitions Limited (''Bezier''), a company of which Kevin Lyon, Chairman of SMS, was formerly a director, entered administration on 19 August 2011.

Mr Lyon has advised SMS that he joined the board of Bezier on 13 June 2011 (and such directorship was disclosed in the SMS Admission Document dated 24 June 2011) at the request of two lenders with a view to effecting a sale for them either through a sale of their debt or a sale of the company. Mr Lyon has advised that the directors of Bezier have successfully traded that debt to a third party and that the administration of Bezier is now part of the restructuring process.
