COMS launch new division to support Microsoft unified communications products and wins major order
Coms plc has launched a new division to support Microsoft's unified communications products, known as Office Communications Server ("OCS"). The Company has already received a major order from Wandsworth Health Authority ("WHA").
Office Communications Server is a Microsoft application that enables its flagship Exchange product to connect to internet telephony networks. It brings the benefits of VoIP-based cloud telephony to enterprise desktops. Workers can use telepresence to see which of their colleagues are online and dial them, or external contacts, directly from their computer, both increasing productivity and saving money on call costs.
The Company's subsidiary VCOMM today completed shipment of its largest order to date to WHA for equipment and services exceeding £100,000 to enable WHA to implement an OCS solution.
Coms is working with leading Microsoft Gold Partners that specialise in voice and video services to integrate the OCS range of products and services for enterprise customers. The new division will work closely with these channel partners to design OCS solutions and supply the necessary enabling-technology and internet telephony and video services.
COMS Executive Chairman, Jason Drummond, said: "Microsoft's enterprise customers will automatically upgrade to OCS as part of their upgrade cycle and implement unified communications. I am confident that COMS will continue to win higher-value customers as companies recognise and reap the benefits of cloud-telephony."
VCOMM has a portfolio of VoIP handsets, gateways and servers that provide a complete unified communications solution from world-leading manufacturers including Polycom, Digium and Extricom.
