Advanced Smartcard Technologies plc 14 February 2006 Advanced Smartcard Technologies plc ADVANCED SMARTCARD TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES CONTRACT SUCCESS WITH TRANSPORT SCOTLAND Advanced Smartcard Technologies plc, through its wholly owned subsidiary Ecebs Limited, has successfully completed a £325,000 order for Transport Scotland, an agency of the Scottish Executive. The project involved the delivery of 6,500 high capacity secure smartcards, known as "ISAMs" (ITSO Security Application Modules), as part of a national initiative. This project represents a significant step forward in making smartcard transport ticketing a reality in Scotland. The ISAMs will be installed in terminals aboard buses and passenger carrying ferries, acting as card-reading devices, to enable the 1.2 million smartcards being issued by the Improvement Service on behalf of Scottish Local Authorities to be authenticated and operate as transport tickets. Managing Director, David Braddock, commented, " We are delighted to have completed this crucial stage of the implementation programme for Transport Scotland. These ISAMs will be the backbone of the largest smartcard transport ticketing system in the UK outside London." -ends- Date: February 14, 2006 For further information contact: Advanced Smartcard Technologies plc 01355-268521 David Braddock, Managing Director Stephen Naylor, Finance Director SVS Securities 020 7638 5600 Ian Callaway Peter Manfield cityPROFILE 020 7448 3244 Simon Courtenay Lynn Mah NOTES TO EDITORS About Advanced Smartcard Technologies plc ("SMRT", "The Company") Advanced Smartcard Technologies plc, through its wholly owned subsidiary Ecebs Limited, is a profit making, software company operating in the dynamic and expanding smartcard arena.
