                       DS Smith Completion of Acquisition

Further to the announcement made on 1 February 2008, DS Smith Plc confirms that,
following German anti-trust clearance, it has completed the acquisition from
M-real Corporation of the New Thames Paper Mill and the balance of Grovehurst
Energy Limited not already owned by DS Smith.
