The Company received notification on 12 July 1999 that on 9 July 1999 Mr
Antony Peverell Hichens, a non-executive Director of the Company, bought
100,000 ordinary shares at a price of 154p per share.

Following this purchase Mr Hichens holds 200,000 ordinary shares representing
0.06 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital.
