Smiths strengthens communications team
Smiths Group today announced the appointment of Russell Plumley to the new position of Director, Investor Relations.
At the same time, Bernard Carey, formerly of BMW Group, was appointed Director, Corporate Affairs.
Smiths' Chief Executive, Keith Butler-Wheelhouse commented; 'This double appointment strengthens the communications
function at Smiths, reflecting our growth and the increased complexity of the Group. The wealth of experience which
Russell and Bernard bring to these positions will help ensure our stakeholders are fully aware of our direction and
achievements.'
Plumley, previously Corporate Communications Director at Smiths, joined the company in 1988 from Nortel. He has led
communications at Smiths for 14 years and maintained the position following the successful merger with TI Group. He
will report to Financial Director, Alan Thomson.
Carey joins the company following a three year period as London representative of the board of BMW AG. Previously he
was Corporate Affairs Director of Rover Group and earlier held the same position at Lucas Industries. He will report
to the Chief Executive.
