CURRENT TRADING BUOYANT
ENCOURAGED BY CONTINUED HIGH LEVEL OF FRANCHISE ENQUIRIES
George Hardie, the Chairman of Printing.com, will make the following comments on
current trading at the Annual General Meeting to be held in Manchester today:
'Following brisk trading in May / early June, the latter part of June / early
July proved soft. However, we are delighted to report that August / September
has proved substantially more buoyant. Indeed, in the period ending 12
September, the Company achieved record transactional levels, which was most
encouraging as this period included the August bank holiday. The current period,
whilst not complete until 10 October, would again appear to reflect this trend.
An increased gestation period has been evident between the signing of 'Options'
pertaining to Territory Franchises and the subsequent instigation of the
franchise following the securing of suitable property. Clearly this has meant
that, whilst record transactional levels are being recorded at present, they
would have been higher had the delayed units been trading at an earlier date.
The Company is currently engaged in a busy wave of franchise completions
covering those of both a Territory and Bolt-on nature. Whilst certain delays
have been encountered, principally pertaining to the securing of suitable
property, the Directors are encouraged that the continued high level of
franchise enquiries should enable the Company to meet its quota of new openings
in the current financial year. It is intended to give a more detailed update
with regards to estate development when the Company announces its interim
results in November 2004.'

Background note:
Printing.com
Printing.com offers a broad product range including leaflets, postcards,
promotional cards, invitations, letterheads and business cards to consumers and
small and medium sized companies. Unlike its competitors, Printing.com Stores do
not have any printing equipment on location. The Company's printing and
ancillary equipment is based at the centralised Production Hub with the head
office in Manchester. All work is produced in full four colour rather than two
colour. Delivery to the customer is usually within three days. The printing
sector has traditionally been served by smaller printing companies or other On
Demand Printers and is estimated to be worth some £1 billion.
Printing.com has four routes to market: Franchise Stores, Bolt-on Franchises,
Company owned Stores, and via the Company's website where online design and
ordering are facilitated.
