Songa Offshore SE's (OSE: SONG) Board announced today its nomination committee's proposal for the board of directors of Songa Offshore SE, to be elected on the company's AGM on June 6^th 2013 in Limassol, Cyprus. Mr. Michael Mannering, President of the Rig Management Group at Schlumberger, is nominated as a new Director and Chairman of the board. He will succeed Mr. Jens A. Wilhelmsen, who wishes to step down in order to again focus his time on his private equity investment companies.

Current directors Mr. Steven James McTiernan and Mr. Arnaud Bobillier, who were both co-opted as new Directors in January are up for election. Additionally, the Committee has nominated Mr. Frederik Wilhelm Mohn as new Director.  

The new Chairman, Mike Mannering (60) has over 30 years experience in the energy industry. From 2008, Mannering has been President of Rig Management at Schlumberger and is currently responsible for rigs contracted by IPM and for the Schlumberger equity participation in Schlumberger rig joint ventures. He is Chairman of Saxon Energy Services, a Canadian based international drilling contractor with 95 land rigs, and sits on the board of Schlumberger Oilfield UK.
Mannering joined Schlumberger's drilling contracting organization, Sedco Forex, in 1985 where he went on to take various managerial responsibilities including the overall responsibility for the land and offshore fleet in the Middle East and S.E. Asia. In 1999 he became Managing Director for Schlumberger Oilfield Services UK with responsibility for all of Schlumberger's N. Sea Operations,
Mannering is a mechanical engineer with first class Honors from Southampton University UK.

It has been a priority to compose a board with adequate strategic, operational and industry experience to lead Songa through its next phase. The proposed nominations are supported by Songa's two largest shareholders, Perestroika AS and Spencer Energy AS. Mike Mannering, together with Arnaud Bobillier and Steven McTiernan, will bring extensive and relevant operational and financial experience to the existing board, says outgoing Chairman Jens A. Wilhelmsen.
