SOPHEON PLC
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING : POSITIVE MID-YEAR PROGRESS STATEMENT
Sopheon plc ('Sopheon') holds its AGM today and announces continued
progress through the first half of 2000 in line with business
expectations, highlighted in several key areas:
Revenue has continued to grow from both new and existing customers at
a strong pace in the first half year, with several significant
software and services contracts being signed in UK, Europe and USA,
including three with a value in excess of £500,000.
The proposed acquisition of US based Teltech Resource Network
Corporation continues to move forward, with the SEC registration
statement filed and moving through the review process. We expect
completion in the coming weeks.
As existing business partners in the USA, Sopheon and Teltech have
continued to jointly approach specific prospective customers and
there are a number of significant proposals ongoing that could lead
to major software solutions sales.
Earlier this quarter we also launched Teltech Research Services and
Knowledge Management Consultancy Services in Europe through an
exclusive agreement with Teltech. Pre-sales effort and
infrastructure planning are well underway, and will continue as we
implement and localize these services to the European market.
Yesterday at the HSBC Knowledge Management conference for the
institutional investment community, we announced the signing of an
exclusive partnership agreement with the Ontario based Product
Development Institute ('PDI'). The partnership will focus initially
on applying Sopheon's best-of-breed knowledge management software and
Teltech's research and knowledge management capabilities, with PDI's
unmatched process understanding to create an automated product
development solution that can guide new product activity from
inception to launch. The solution will be based on PDI's world-
renowned Stage-Gate process, which is presently used in some form by
an estimated 70% of technology-driven companies in North America.
As planned, Sopheon has been expanding its sales and marketing
departments in Denver, Guildford and Amsterdam with several new
appointments, including the hiring of new sales managers in all three
locations to lead the fast-growing sales teams.
Due to the success of Sopheon's initial installation that resulted in
revenues in excess of £350,000 over the last 12 months, a division of
one of Germany's leading magazine publishers has engaged Sopheon to
build one of Europe's largest portals. This very significant
contract together with the co-operation we have started with Aachen
Hospital will be used as the springboard for Sopheon to establish a
German subsidiary during the third quarter of this year.
We look forward to the second half of the year 2000 with great
excitement and significant expectations as we focus our attention on
driving the business and valuation out of our rapidly expanding North
American and European operations.
