FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 4 December 2000
SOPHEON PLC
LAUNCH OF ONLINE EXPERT KNOWLEDGE RESOURCE
Sopheon plc ('Sopheon'), the international knowledge management software,
services and content group, announces the launch of Intotaa expert knowledge
services, an online resource created specifically to serve technical and
scientific business-to-business markets. At www.intota.com, a qualified and
certified network of experts covering more than 30,000 areas of science,
technology and business will provide answers to clients' questions through
confidential e-mail and telephone consulting.
'Intota is one of the first major offerings from the new international
alliance that resulted from Sopheon's recent merger with U.S.-based Teltech
Resource Network Corporation,' said Andy Michuda, CEO of Sopheon. 'It
exemplifies the strategic thrust of the merger, which created a company that
delivers a unique integration of information process and content. Our
expectation is that science and technology professionals will view Intota as
an enhancement to their everyday business resources. We are beginning
roll-out of the service in the United States because it allows us to
immediately leverage the extensive network of industry experts that Teltech
has cultivated since 1984.'
A desktop resource for engineers, chemists, scientists, and other job
functions, Intota's service is transaction-based, available to clients on a '
pay as you need' basis via credit card, versus an annual fee or subscription
service. This single-use transaction arrangement will make the service
cost-accessible to a wider audience of users. A client first selects which
individual he or she wants to contact by reviewing extensive biographies.
Then, the client can speak directly with this expert through Intota's
technology, which connects the two parties in real-time and allows them to
communicate without revealing either party's telephone number. The process is
confidential and secure.
Intota is at the forefront of online expert advice services aimed at science
and technology professionals. The market research firm, Datamonitor Inc.
forecasts $6 billion in annual revenue for this industry by 2005. The firm
predicts that Internet advice sites serving business and consumer markets will
answer one billion paid questions a year within the next three years.
