FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 23 April 2002
SOPHEON PLC
NEW ACCOLADE CONTRACTS
Sopheon plc ('Sopheon') announced today that it has signed agreements with three
companies for implementation of Accolade, Sopheon's Web enabled software and
services system that automates and accelerates product development and improves
the return on product portfolio investments. The companies are
Glatfelter (NYSE: GLT), a global supplier of specialty papers and engineered
products;
Acist Medical Systems, a unit of the Italian healthcare group, Bracco, that
designs and manufactures advanced medical injection systems; and
a diversified multinational supplier of engineered materials that cannot be
identified because of confidentiality constraints. 'The orders announced today
are the latest indication of growing market momentum for Sopheon's Accolade
system,' said Andy Michuda, Sopheon's chief executive officer.
Glatfelter's decision to adopt the Accolade system reflects the company's
overarching focus on optimizing business performance. Scott Mingus,
Glatfelter's director of new product development said 'We have disciplined our
approach to product development through the implementation of a customized
stage-gate process. With Accolade, we will be able to transfer that process
from paper to computer, dramatically accelerating it, streamlining it and
improving process adherence.'
At Acist, Sopheon's solution will help the company deliver on aggressive product
development schedules and achieve first-mover positioning within new markets by
formalizing the product development process. Peter DeLange, director of product
development at Acist said 'We were attracted to Accolade by its ability to
automate and improve the cost-effectiveness of product development. Another
consideration that sold us on Sopheon's solution is that it provides a turnkey
way for introducing a structured product development process into our
organization.'
