Spectris plc: Transaction in own shares
Pursuant to the regulatory announcement made by Spectris plc on 30 November 2007
that it intends to undertake additional share repurchases under its share
buy-back programme, Spectris plc announces that, on 7 January 2008, it purchased
60,000 of its 5p ordinary shares at a volume weighted average price paid per
share of 659.7p. Spectris plc purchased these shares via Hoare Govett Limited's
affiliate, ABN AMRO Bank N.V., London Branch.
The highest price paid per share was 665p, and the lowest price paid was 654p.
Spectris plc has purchased, to date, 9,152,000 of its own shares since making an
initial announcement concerning the buyback on 23 February 2007. The shares
purchased are held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Spectris
plc holds 8,555,572 shares in treasury. The balance of the purchased shares has
been used to satisfy share option exercises under Spectris plc's share option
schemes.
The total number of ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares) is
116,449,551.
