                Appointment of Additional Non-Executive Director



Speedy Hire Plc announces the appointment of Peter Atkinson as non-executive
Director, which takes place with immediate effect.



Peter, 48, is Chief Executive of Macfarlane Group PLC, the leading packaging
solutions business. He took up this position in October 2003. From 2000 to 2003,
Peter was responsible for the US automotive and materials handling business of
Brambles Industries plc. Additionally, he has significant management experience
gained during his time at GKN Plc and its joint venture partners where he worked
from 1988 to 2000.



Before joining GKN Plc, Peter developed a strong sales and marketing background
through his career at Procter & Gamble and S. C. Johnson and has a successful
track record of business development, which will prove invaluable to Speedy
Hire.



Peter will be an additional member of each of the Company's Remuneration, Audit
and Nomination Committees.



There are no further disclosures relating to Mr Atkinson required under
paragraph 16.4 of the Listing Rules.
