Directors and Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibility ('PDMR') - Interest
in Shares - Amendment


The following announcement replaces the announcement released at 12:52 on 15
July 2005 under RNS number: 93720.  Andrew C Simpson's Total Matching Shares
Held under CIP now reads 123,194 in place of 104,502 and Neil C O'Brien's Total
Matching Shares Held under CIP now reads 90,914 in place of 109,606.  All other
details remain unchanged.

Speedy Hire announces the following changes to Directors' and PDMR's interests
in the Company's ordinary 5p shares ('Shares').

Share Awards, sale of shares by the Company's Employee Benefits Trust ('EBT')
and corresponding Share Purchases by Directors and PDMR

Awards were made on Thursday 14 July 2005 under the Speedy Hire Performance
Share Plan ('PSP') and awards of Matching Shares have also been made under the
Speedy Hire Co-Investment Plan ('CIP').  These Plans were approved by
shareholders at the AGM in July 2004.  The awards comprise rights to acquire
Shares at nil cost, subject to the rules of the Plans and to the applicable
performance targets.

Sale and Purchase of  Shares

In accordance with the rules of the CIP, the Directors and PDMR have purchased
Shares all at 724p per share as indicated below.

Of the Shares purchased, 29,834 Shares were sold by the EBT.  As a result of
this sale, the number of Shares held by the EBT has reduced by 29,834 Shares
(0.07% of the Company's issued share capital) in total.  The EBT now holds
105,476 Shares (0.25% of the Company's issued share capital).  As potential
beneficiaries of the EBT, all Directors and PDMR of the Company are treated as
interested in transactions by the EBT.

the earlier breakdown)

Matching Share Awards were made on Thursday 14 July 2005 under the CIP to
